New administrative-business center – PRESSBURG TRADE CENTER will be accrued in heart of historical downtown of Bratislava City
 
In Bratislava center, on Sturova street # 4, new administrative-business center – Pressburg Trade Center will be accrued. Building, which majority of inhabitants remember as publishing head office of daily Pravda, despite it’s attractive location had been deteriorating for several years, and it’s abandoned condition had been in contradiction with location on one of the streets, which metropolis should be proud of. In current time period, this building of which developer is Soravia Slovakia, is passing through broad reconstruction.
 
By the end of the April 2006, rough construction of the building will be finished, whereas original architectonical building organization will be preserved. Reconstruction of building begun in April 2005 and expected date of official opening will be in October 2006. Developer of this project is corporation Soravia Slovakia , which invested into a project 25 mill. Euro. Interesting is to mention a fact that this building originally consisted of two separate conformations, which were built in different historical time periods. Whereas individual parts of both buildings were functionally as well as dispositionally interconnected, reconstruction as well as extension of the building is being solved as one entity. Besides complete reconstructions of existing constructions and installations, following changes were made: demolishment of entire basement and composition of two integral parking floors, complete demolishment of one wing of back tract (with preservation of original facade based on the reason of location in sightseeing area) and construction of new wing and extension of two additional floors. Originally two physically connected, although constructally and optically different tracts, will be unified with an even facade cobbles. Considering current ownership, it is corporation UBS Real Estate KAG.
 
Pressburg Trade Center will be top - modern entity with the largest coherent administrative space in the center of a city. On the ground floor, retail facilities will be placed with totaling area of 950 m², where inhabitants and visitors of Bratislava will be able to find for example restaurant, coffee place, bank and other facilities. In underground 120 parking lots will be build. On upper 9 floors, 12 000 m² of office space will be available; these will have double-floors, suspended ceiling, individually adjustable air-conditioning, electronic fire alarm system, openable windows and plasterboard divisions. As a constituent of building, there will be 4 high speed handicapped accessible elevators and reception with 24 hours security guard. By adding up two additional floors, 1 200 m² of terrace space will be as well available, which will create in overall positive image of modern and representative facility.
 
Pressburg Trade Center entity is extraordinary with it’s interconnection of “old” and “new”, building situated in historical downtown of Bratislava will keep it’s original charm and at the same time it will be administrative center equipped with modern facilities. Reconstruction of this object will contribute to overall appearance of central part of the capital town of Slovak Republic - Bratislava.

History of Sturova street # 4  
 
  • Sturova street has been originally called Landererova street and had been named after publisher and letterpress printer Johann Sebastian Landerer. In 1752, his son - Johann Michael II. Landerer obtained printing privilege from Maria Terezia. Later on, in 1764 Lenderer begun to publish Pressburger Zeitung. Building including printing and publishing offices had three entrances – on Sturova street # 4, Medena and Jesenskeho street.
 
  • Street had been built on place, where originally meadows and groves were growing and occupied current Safarikovo square as well. Among the very first buildings build on this street Red Bull pub had been open. Since 1829, street had been redesigned for carriage traffic as well and in 1880, 12 houses had been already built on this street.
 
  • Since 1829 till nowadays, Sturova street had been re-named several times. For a certain time period, this street had been called Barosova – after Ugrian Ministry for Economy and Transportation, Gabor Baross, who had been at the same time initiator of stable Danube bridge construction in Bratislava. Since 1921 street had been named after codificator of Slovak language and the leader of Slovak revolt – Ludovit Stur.
 
  • After the Second World War, printing house Novina had been built on Sturova street #4. Letter on it become unified with printing house Andrej. In between 1954 – 1958 entire building had been reconstructed for publishing house Pravda, which at that time belong to Communist party of Slovakia. In 1976 new printing house had been established, where the majority of newspapers has been printed, Pravda moved to Martanovicova (today’s Pribinova) street and to building on Sturova street, consequently till 90’s only insignificant orders were left.
 
  • In last years, object on Sturova street # 4 was deteriorating, until April 2005, when Soravia Slovakia started with it’s reconstruction.
